The Titan Warrior Interval Timer app is an app I developed in my free time during the past few weeks. It’s a single purpose app designed to help people with their fitness, boxing or Martial arts training. It gives you an automatic signal that times/counts rounds and keeps track of rest periods so that you can concentrate on your training.
It can also be used as a great Egg Timer .
The app is an example of a simplified Universal HTML5 app, built using Chrome, Intel’s SDK and Phonegap. It’s made up of HTML5 code using a local database for storage, which allowed me to wrap it inside the Phonegap framework and create builds for iOS devices, standard Android devices along with the Kindle Fire Android based device.
As a developer I am always trying out new frameworks and methods to increase my knowledge, grow my swiss army knife of tools and create the most stable solution using the newest cutting edge technologies. I am a firm believer in cross platform development not just for the ease of creation on the part of the developer but also for the ease of maintenance and lower overhead on the client side.
I came about building this app because it crossed both my work as a developer as well as my martial arts hobby which made it that much more fun. Not only could I focus on the technical side of building the app but I could also use myself as a use case and develop something that I will personally use. I used the standard Hillert MVP process to get the simplest functional version developed so that I can gain insights from the app in the real world, learn from users and work to enhance the current version while implementing improvements and new features.
